About
Founded in 1991, Fuji Japán Étterem holds the distinction of being Hungary's original Japanese restaurant – a pioneer that introduced authentic Japanese cuisine to Budapest decades before the city's current dining boom. The kitchen has consistently been led by Japanese-trained chefs, and the restaurant is a known gathering point for Japanese expatriates in Hungary, many of whom rely on Fuji for a genuine taste of home. The dining room features tatami seating rooms alongside conventional tables, and the menu is a comprehensive survey of traditional Japanese cooking: sushi and sashimi at the open bar, teppanyaki prepared tableside, sukiyaki and shabu-shabu hot pots, ramen, tempura, and udon noodles. After relocating from its original Zugliget address to Szépvölgyi út in Óbuda, Fuji continues to operate in the same neighbourhood cluster as Okuyama No Sushi and Sushi Sei.
