About
WAFU (和風, meaning 'Japanese style') was launched in 2020 by Takashi Nagatake, a Japanese culinary professional with over a decade of experience in Japan and abroad. Nagatake opened his first WAFU izakaya in Budapest's vibrant District VII, drawing on ramen traditions from Japan's best-known regions. The menu spans tonkotsu, shoyu, and spicy dandan ramen, house-made gyoza, karaage, takoyaki, and an impressive sake and cocktail list. Time Out Budapest notes the atmosphere is 'reminiscent of everyday Japanese ramen bars.' Five locations now serve Budapest, with the Kazinczy flagship remaining the soul of the brand.
