About
Haruhiko Saeki moved from Japan to Europe in 1995 and spent over a decade before opening what became Germany's first ramen restaurant in Düsseldorf in 2007 — Takumi. His co-founder Kenjiro Komatsubara had previously run his own ramen restaurant in Tokyo, ensuring the recipes were grounded in Japanese authenticity. Takumi's Cologne location on the Hohenstaufenring carries this founding philosophy forward: original Japanese broth recipes, Japanese-trained chefs and a menu spanning tonkotsu, miso and shoyu ramen alongside gyoza, karaage and takoyaki. The brand now spans 15+ European cities including Germany, Spain, the Netherlands and Austria. In Cologne, Takumi has earned the Travelers' Choice 2025 award and was ranked TripAdvisor's #1 Japanese restaurant in the city for 2026.
