About
Eel Sushi Bar opened on Notting Hill's Talbot Road in May 2025, helmed by chef Nick Xie, who trained at the critically acclaimed Dinings SW3. The compact 10–16 seat counter operates entirely on à la carte service — no omakase format — giving diners the freedom to construct their own meal from a menu of traditional nigiri, sashimi, maki and hand rolls. The Michelin Guide added Eel Sushi Bar to its listings in October 2025, noting it as 'Worth Queueing For' and suitable for solo diners. A curated wine list complements the fish-focused menu. Online reservations are accepted alongside walk-ins throughout the week.
Why it's on Washoku Guide
- Michelin Guide-listed just months after opening, with an inspector note of 'Worth Queueing For' — one of London's fastest Michelin recognitions in recent memory.
- Chef Nick Xie brings experience from Dinings SW3, one of London's most respected Japanese restaurants, to a Notting Hill setting with walk-in flexibility.
- À la carte format — rather than a fixed omakase — gives guests full agency over their meal without sacrificing technical quality.
- Seven-day opening hours with both walk-in and online reservations make Eel Sushi Bar one of London's most accessible premium sushi experiences.
