About
Jeux Jeux opened in late 2023 as London's first dedicated Hiroshima-style okonomiyaki restaurant, positioned in County Hall alongside sister restaurant Hannah. The name — derived from the sound of spatulas on the teppan plate — gives some indication of the playful authenticity at the heart of the concept. Chefs cook in an open kitchen on a large teppan griddle, visible from the dining room, producing the complex layered pancakes characteristic of Hiroshima-style okonomiyaki (distinguished from the Kansai style by the addition of noodles). Japanese guests from Japan have praised the quality as comparable to the best they have eaten in Hiroshima itself.
Why it's on Washoku Guide
- London's first dedicated Hiroshima-style okonomiyaki restaurant — the only place in the city to experience this distinct regional variation on the classic dish.
- Skilled teppan chefs cook in full view of diners, offering a live performance that is as entertaining as the food is delicious.
- Japanese visitors from Japan have rated the quality on a par with the best Hiroshima-style okonomiyaki served in Japan — an extraordinary benchmark.
- Budget-friendly pricing (from around £12) and a central South Bank location make this one of the most accessible authentic Japanese experiences in the city.
Reservations recommended for groups; located in County Hall, Belvedere Road entrance (quiet side, off the main riverfront).
