About
MOI opened on Wardour Street in July 2025 as one of Soho's most ambitious Japanese-inspired dining concepts. Launched by restaurateur Artem Login with head chef Nick Tannett (formerly of the Michelin Bib Gourmand Evernight), the restaurant occupies two floors: a ground-floor live-fire grill and à la carte dining room, and a basement 16-seat omakase sushi counter. The kitchen showcases British and Japanese produce through the simplicity of live-fire cooking, with sushi hand-crafted to be rooted in tradition but given contemporary flair. Drinks span biodynamic wines from small producers, a curated sake and shochu list, and cocktails built on Japanese techniques. The Listening Room — a late-night space open Wednesday to Saturday — channels the energy of Tokyo and Shinjuku's vinyl bars. The Michelin Guide added MOI to its listings in April 2026.
Why it's on Washoku Guide
- Michelin Guide-listed in 2026 — one of London's fastest-recognised new openings — for a concept that combines live-fire cooking with a 16-seat omakase sushi bar under one roof.
- The basement Listening Room, open until midnight on weekends, offers a vinyl bar experience modelled on Tokyo's legendary underground music spaces.
- Chef Nick Tannett's live-fire approach celebrates British and Japanese produce in tandem, showcasing an unusually thoughtful Anglo-Japanese sourcing philosophy.
- A biodynamic wine list from small-scale winemakers, paired with sake and shochu, creates a drinks programme as carefully curated as the food.
