About
Sushi by Masa opened in October 2023 as the first international outpost of chef Masayoshi 'Masa' Takayama, whose New York restaurant Masa holds three Michelin stars and charges among the highest prices for sushi in the world. London's iteration occupies a spectacular 40-seat oval counter in the Harrods Dining Hall, accessed via a dedicated entrance on Brompton Road after store hours. The menu centres on Edomae-style omakase sushi using the highest-grade seasonal ingredients. An oyster hour — 12 oysters and free-flowing champagne — is available Monday to Thursday from 6pm to 9pm at £75 per person, making the otherwise premium experience more accessible at specific hours.
Why it's on Washoku Guide
- The only restaurant in London designed and overseen by a three-Michelin-star Japanese sushi chef — the same chef whose New York Masa set the global benchmark for premium Edomae sushi.
- A 40-seat oval omakase counter inside one of the world's most iconic retail destinations creates a uniquely theatrical dining environment.
- The oyster hour — 12 oysters and champagne for £75 — offers a rare accessible entry point into the Masa dining experience without the full omakase commitment.
- Masayoshi Takayama's first restaurant outside the United States, making London the only city outside New York to host this legendary chef's kitchen.
