About
A-Un Brooklyn is the third restaurant of the Wasan group, opened in 2022 by partners Toshi and Kakusaburo (Kaku) Sakurai, who have run Japanese restaurants in New York since 2010. Named after the Japanese concept of 'breath of a-un' (the harmonious give-and-take between two entities), the restaurant anchors a Bushwick neighborhood largely underserved by authentic Japanese dining. The menu spans sushi, tonkotsu ramen, udon, and traditional izakaya small plates, with a thoughtfully curated sake list overseen by a certified sake sommelier. Weekend brunch adds seasonal specials and a late-night menu on Fridays and Saturdays extends the izakaya spirit. One of the rare Japanese-run restaurants in NYC's outer boroughs, A-Un is celebrated for its community warmth and consistent authenticity.
