About
Kaisen Hannosuke is the New Jersey outpost of Nihonbashi Tendon Kaneko Hannosuke, a Tokyo chain from the historic Nihonbashi district renowned for its Edomae tendon — a lacquered-sauce tempura bowl served over rice in the style of traditional Edo-period Tokyo. Operating from within Mitsuwa Marketplace in Edgewater, NJ (just across the Hudson from Manhattan), it is the only kaisendon restaurant in New Jersey and one of the only authentic Edomae tendon establishments on the East Coast. The menu offers tempura-topped rice bowls (tendon), kaisendon (layered seafood bowls), chirashi, soba, and poke bowls, with pricing starting at under $14 — remarkable value for the quality. The food court setting makes it accessible and informal, though be prepared for wait times of 30–60 minutes on busy days.
