About
Yakiniku Toraji NYC AN opened in January 2024 at 14-20 Elizabeth Street (also known as 46-48 Bowery) in Chinatown, becoming the second New York City location for the Tokyo-based Toraji Group, which was established in Ebisu in 1995 and has 30+ years of yakiniku heritage. The downtown location operates seven days a week from 11:30am to 11pm with no closure day, distinguishing it from the Midtown Honten. The menu follows authentic Japanese yakiniku traditions: namul and kimchi starters, premium cuts of beef tongue (atsugiri), kalbi, pork neck, and A5 Wagyu, finished with cold noodles or bibimbap. Wagyu beef sushi is a house specialty.
Why it's on Washoku Guide
- Toraji's 30-year Tokyo heritage from Ebisu — the city's premier yakiniku neighborhood — gives the AN location an authentic lineage matched by few NYC competitors.
- Seven-day-a-week operation from 11:30am to 11pm makes it the most accessible yakiniku option in downtown Manhattan.
- The Wagyu sirloin sushi — a Toraji house specialty combining premium BBQ beef and sushi craftsmanship — is a genuinely unique offering.
- The Chinatown/Bowery location gives downtown diners direct access to Tokyo-caliber yakiniku without traveling to Midtown.
Address appears as both '18 Elizabeth St' (Yelp) and '14-20 Elizabeth Street / 46-48 Bowery' (official Toraji site). Same location. Opened January 24, 2024.
