About
Okonomiyaki Izakaya Matsuri is one of Prague's most exciting recent openings — a sports-themed izakaya specialising in okonomiyaki, the Osaka-style savoury pancake that is one of Japan's great comfort foods. Chef Hiroki Komiya is from Osaka and ran an okonomiyaki restaurant there from 2017 before being brought to Prague by the Czech-Japanese Center. The concept debuted at Prague's Japanese Cultural Festival in 2022 before finding a permanent home in the trendy Holešovice district in 2024. The restaurant is managed by Takeshi Ito (Japanese), who operates the front of house. Expats.cz and Prague Morning have both confirmed the Japanese credentials of the team. The menu is anchored around classic and creative okonomiyaki, with supporting Japanese bar snacks including takoyaki, gyoza and seasonal izakaya dishes.
