About
When Guu Davie opened in February 2019 on the heart of Vancouver's Davie Village, it became the first izakaya in the city to centre its identity on Japanese hot pot dining. Oden — the slow-simmered Japanese dashi stew of daikon, konjac, tofu, and various proteins — and shabu-shabu sit alongside the classic Guu izakaya menu of grilled skewers, sashimi, and Japanese small plates. The West End location gives the venue a neighbourhood character distinct from the group's other downtown outposts, and a patio adds outdoor dining appeal in warmer months. Tokyo-based owner Yoshinori Kitahara maintains the same Japanese culinary standards across all Guu locations, and Guu Davie benefits from both the brand's deep izakaya heritage and its hot pot specialisation.
