About
Founded in Japan in 1999 and now operating 30 outlets across Japan, Canada, Indonesia, Sri Lanka and India, Kuuraku introduced authentic izakaya culture to India in 2013 when MD Seijiro Hirohama opened the Bandra West location. The Japanese ownership is real and active: the Bandra kitchen follows traditional yakitori grilling methods, the sake and highball selection is curated from Japan, and staff training adheres to Japanese hospitality protocols. The restaurant built its initial customer base among Japanese expatriates in Mumbai and remains a favourite of the expat community. It is the most affordable authentically Japanese-owned dining experience in the city.
