About
ABURI Restaurants Canada was established by Seigo Nakamura of Japan's Tora Corporation, bringing the proprietary aburi (flame-seared) sushi technique — developed exclusively by the group — from Vancouver to Toronto. Minami opened at 225 King Street West in 2020/2021, earning the Americas' Best Designed Restaurant award in 2021 for its striking interior. The menu features aburi oshi sushi (flame-seared pressed sushi), Japanese small plates, seasonal omakase tasting menus, and premium ingredients including A5 Wagyu and Hokkaido seafood. Chef Ryusuke Nakagawa, who holds Michelin recognition, contributes to the evolving dinner menu. Minami is sister to Miku Toronto and shares the ABURI Group's commitment to Japanese ownership and culinary integrity.
